Introduction

A conditional sentence contains a clause that usually begins with if:

1. ^if-clauseIf the weather’s nice, we’ll have a picnic.
2. He would do it ^if-clauseif you asked him.
3. ^if-clauseIf you had studied harder, you wouldn’t have failed your exams.
